Which size to print
| Size | Per A4 / Letter page | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 3 × 5 in | 4 | Speech notes held in one hand, vocabulary cards |
| 4 × 6 in | 2 | Longer presentation notes, recipes, study summaries |
| 5 × 8 in | 1 on A4, 2 on Letter | Lectern notes and lesson plans |
| A6 | 2 | Cue cards in countries that use A-series paper |
| A7 | 4 | Pocket flash cards and short prompts |
| Palm card | 8 | School speeches; matches the editor's palm card size |
The counts assume a 6 mm margin, which most home printers need. For more detail on each size, see the cue card size guide.
Tips for handwritten cards
- Write on the lines, one idea per card. If a point runs past the last line, it belongs on two cards.
- Use the numbered style for speeches. If the stack falls, the numbers put it back in order in seconds.
- Use dark ink. Pencil is hard to read under stage or classroom lighting.
If you already have your speech typed, you do not need to copy it out by hand. Paste it into the cue card generator or straight into the editor.
