Most people looking for a Quizlet alternative want one of three things: to keep studying without a paywall in the middle of a session, to get their cards onto paper, or to use the same cards for a talk or an oral exam. EasyPalmCards does all three, and it is honest about what it does not do. This page shows how to move a set across, what comes with it, and where each tool is the better choice.
Bring your Quizlet set over in a minute
You do not need to retype anything. Quizlet lets the person who made a set export its terms and definitions as text, and EasyPalmCards reads that text directly.
- Export from Quizlet Sign in to Quizlet on the website or app, open the set you made, choose the more menu (⋯), then Export. Keep the default arrangement (a tab between term and definition, a new line between cards) and choose Copy text.
- Open the import box hereOpen the flash card import. The editor switches to flash card mode and opens the Import tab.
- Paste and check Paste the text. The format is detected for you, and a preview shows the fronts and backs it found. If your set used a comma or a dash instead of a tab, pick it from the separator list.
- Choose add or replace Add the cards to the set already on this device, or replace it. Then choose Import.
- Study or print Your terms are on the fronts and your definitions on the backs. Start Learn, Test or Match, or print the set.
The import also reads CSV files from Excel or Google Sheets (front in the first column, back in the second) and plain text exported from Anki, so a set you keep in a spreadsheet comes over the same way. One paste can bring in up to 2,000 cards.
What comes over, and what does not
Being clear about this saves you a surprise later.
- Comes over: every term and definition, in order, including line breaks inside a definition when the export keeps them.
- Does not come over: images, audio, your Quizlet study progress and any folders or classes. Quizlet’s help centre says image exports aren’t currently available, so the export is text only.
- Sets you copied from someone else: Quizlet says you can’t export a set you copied from another user. Only sets you created can be exported.
Once the cards are here you can format them freely: bold, headings, bullet lists and colour all work on Free. You can also add a diagram description or a worked example to any card, then print the set to check how it reads on paper.

Where Quizlet is the better choice
Quizlet does several things better than we do. If any of these matter most to you, stay with it.
- Other people’s sets. Quizlet has a large library of sets made by other students and teachers. If you usually study from sets someone else made, nothing here replaces that.
- Images and audio on cards. Quizlet lets you add images and record audio. EasyPalmCards cards are text.
- Native mobile apps with offline study. Quizlet’s iOS and Android apps let you study and create sets offline.
- Study guides and solutions. Quizlet can turn notes into an AI study guide, and its help centre lists Study Guides and Expert Solutions among subscription features. Our AI helps draft and shorten cards, not solve homework.
- Class tools at scale. Quizlet has teacher plans, group subscriptions and a schools product. Our Classroom plan is newer and sized for one teacher’s classes.
Where EasyPalmCards is the better choice
- You want paper. Printing is the core of EasyPalmCards, not an extra. Cards are laid out to cut along the lines, double-sided printing lines the answers up behind the questions, and Fold in half works on printers that only print one side. Card stock sizes print one card per sheet.
- You want to study without paying. Learn, Test, Match and spaced repetition (SM-2, with Study due cards) are free. The free plan has ads, but never while you study; Gold removes them all.
- Your cards are for a talk, not a test. Paste a speech and Smart Reflow splits it across cue cards so no sentence is cut in half. Then time each card, rehearse out loud and present from your phone. Quizlet is not built for that.
- You do not want an account yet. The editor keeps your set on the device you use, so you can import, study and print before signing up for anything.
- You study in another language. The app is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Hindi and Indonesian.
Studying once your cards are here
After the import, the set opens in flash card mode. Flip through it one card at a time, or pick a study mode. Learn asks your cards in short rounds, first as multiple choice and then typed. Test builds a quiz from your own cards and shows a score. Match is a timed pairing game. Cards you know come back after longer gaps; cards you miss come back soon.
On Free, study progress is saved on the device you study on. With Gold, saved sets and their progress sync to your account, so you can review on your phone and carry on at a computer. Gold is optional, and you can also buy a short pass for one exam season that never renews. See pricing for the plans in your currency.
When you want the set on paper, open Print and pick Double-sided or Fold in half. The guide to printable flash cards covers paper weight, print settings and cutting.
