Full text or key points?
Full text keeps every word and puts as many whole sentences on each card as the size allows. It suits a speech you need to deliver word for word, such as a eulogy or a formal address, and it is a good first step before you trim the cards down.
Key points keeps only the opening sentence of each paragraph and lists them as bullets. If you wrote each paragraph around one main idea, those openings are your prompts. Glance at the bullet, then speak the rest from memory. Read our guide on how to write cue cards to shorten the bullets further.
Choosing a card size
The sizes match the editor's presets on an A4 page. Palm cards fit in one hand, cue cards hold about twice as much text, and large cue cards suit a lectern or desk. For measurements in millimetres and inches, see cue card sizes.
Everything here runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded. When you open the cards in the editor, your text is passed straight to its paste dialog so you can check the split before the cards are created.
